Hot Trend on “Career Line” ---- Breast Cleavage Sculpting with Mammaplasty

Due to the various topics on some female celebrities’ breast, the term “career line” has become a trend. Patients seeking related consultation at the author’s clinic have been increasing. Despite the origin of the term, breast cleavage which is concealed behind garments but lightly exposed is a body language to signify a woman’s self-confident besides winning others’ attention. Perhaps the term exists because it can help oneself to leave deep impression at work and help to build a more successful career?

“Career line” is generally referred to breast cleavage. If a person does not have a C-cup size breast inherently, it is usually hard to create obvious breast cleavage (pushing accessory breast or excessive fat do not count in this case). It is undoubtedly a fruitless approach for most Taiwanese females whom have small breasts. Therefore mammaplasty is highly demanding to achieve satisfying results. However, not everyone can create breast cleavage with mammaplasty. According to the author’s observation, almost 40% of patients who underwent mammaplasty have difficulty in forming breast cleavage. Therefore, it is not an easy task to create natural breast cleavage. Indeed, it is one of the abstruse and complicated techniques in mammaplasty. With the opportunity given, I would like to share with everyone my personal experience and method.

As a matter of fact, the theory behind sculpting “career line” with mammaplasty is simple. The cleavage is created by two sliding breast implants which can naturally lean against the mid-line of breast. Since most patients with breast implants tend to have slimmer body shape, there are no sufficient skin and thickness of fat to act as support and buffer. Therefore, issues such as balancing the breast size, spaces of breast implants, and skin elasticity have become critical factors in sculpting “career line”. Accordingly, how to create a natural and appealing breast cleavage? The author has listed the following key points from his personal experiences:

1.	The breast implant should be fully C-D cup sizes:
	A certain volume of breast implants is necessary to push the breasts together unless the patient has plump body shape. In other words, breast cleavage cannot be created from small breast implants. However, each individual may desire different sizes of breast implant. Assessments should also include the consideration on height, chest circumference, and location of nipples.

2.	Careful selection on the types of breast implants:
	Due to the different width of thoracic cage in every individual, a certain size of breast implant may create different cleavage on different individuals. Therefore, we need to examine the relative relation between lumen of implant and chest circumference. Presently, there are cohesive gel implants with various profiles to fit patients with different body shapes, so that they can find the suitable sizes of implants to create desired cleavage results.

3.	Ablated space during operation should concentrate toward the chest midline:
	Since breast augmentation surgery involves implanting a semi-solid medium into the body, it greatly depends on the operation to allow the natural concentration of breast implants toward the middle. As there are plenty of blood vessels and nerves within the range of 1cm from the chest midline to the sides, effective ablation is not performed in most conventional mammaplasty procedures so that post-operative complications can be avoided. Therefore, the breast cleavage is regularly 2-3 fingerbreadths. Currently, we adopt the endoscopic mammaplasty to have a comprehensive view of the inner condition. Subsequently, injuries to the blood vessels can be effectively avoided and results of mammaplasty are enhanced with concentration of both implants within 1 fingerbreadth or as narrow as a card swiper.

4.	Maintenance with post-operative massage:
	A regular mammaplasty requires a massage period of approximately 3-6 months. Both the patient and plastic surgeon have to observe the changes of breast cleavage during this period. If the midline shows tendency of gradual widening, massage toward the center should be enforced. However, if the post-operative cleavage is fairly obvious, excessive pushing of breast toward the midline is unnecessary because folds maybe created from drooping skin and cleavage may disappear from the over-concentrated breasts.

With the above illustrations, I believe most of the readers have understood the similarity between successful cleavage and successful career, as both involve various details which require great attention. Moreover, the operation experience and aesthetic judgements of the aesthetic surgeons play a large role here. These are the reasons why the author perceives “career line” as an interesting and profound topic. Aside from the bias on materializing female with high profile, women have the rights to seek body shape which is self-appealing.
