Fat Transplantation |
|
 |
| |
 |
1. After getting
a fat transplant, will there be hard
lumps, continuous redness, or swelling?
How do I solve that? |
| |
|
 |
The lumps you refer
to should be fat fibrosis caused by
the fat transplant, and continuous
redness could be the inflammatory
reaction from fat necrosis. If the
areas with the above situations are
not large, they should be observed
and conservative treatments can be
made; but the conditions usually recover
after 1-2 months. If cases of subcutaneous
effusion or empyema occur, then they
should be drained or vacuumed out
as soon as possible. |
|
| |
 |
2. Can the
amount of self-absorption after
fat transplants be predicted before
surgery? |
| |
|
 |
The level of
self absorption of the fat transplant
is related to the blood circulation
of the transplanted area, the
transplant techniques, and the
amount of fat transplanted, etc.
Modern medical technology still
cannot predict the amount of self
absorption. We can only attempt
to allow the transplanted fat
cells to stay alive, but cannot
guarantee the survival rate. Usually
implants to the eyelids, breasts,
and genitalia have higher survival
rates, and the cheeks and the
forehead are easily self absorbed.

 |
3. Can fat
transplants be used to increase
breast size? Are there any sequela? |
| |
|
 |
Actually any
part of the body can receive fat
transplants, including the breasts.
Unfortunately because there have
been cases where improper fat
transplants to the breasts have
caused complications, so this
surgery method has been prohibited
by the Department of Health, it
is really a great pity! From my
experiences in Japan, if fat transplants
want to be used to achieve breast
lifting effects, 2-3 consistent
injections, in half year intervals
can be made. The appropriate method
is to perform soft tissue X-rays
of the breasts before and after
surgery.
Also, successful fat transplants
for breasts will not cause calcification,
and will not impact the diagnosis
of breast cancer in the future.

4. What are
the effects of refrigerated fat?
Is it safe? |
| |
|
 |
After we have
your consent, we will keep the
remaining fat in a sterile test
tube, refrigerating at 4˚C after
being clearly marked, and storing
it temporarily for you. We recommend
customers that wish to have a
second fat transplant, to have
it performed within 3 months;
the refrigerated fat should have
a survival rate of 50%. If this
period is exceeded, we will recommend
the fat to be discarded, to ensure
the safety and effectiveness of
the surgery. |
|
| |
 |
5. If you
are not satisfied with the absorption
after the first fat transplant,
how long are you required to wait
until the next fat transplant
surgery? What about the costs? |
| |
|
 |
Usually we will
recommend the patient to come
back to the clinic for evaluation
two months after the first surgery,
and then decide if it is necessary
to receive another fat transplant.
As for the costs of the second
surgery, if you had chosen to
store refrigerated fat, we would
only charge the fat transplant
(injection) fees. But if you did
not store any fat, then for the
second Liposuction we will charge
half the original price. |

6. I want
to have a cheek lift, what is
the best method? |
| |
|
 |
If it is a large
area cheek lift, I recommend that
using fat transplants are the
most economical solution, and
the results are also the best.
Some surgeons would recommend
you to use hyaluronic acid for
a cheek lift, but the costs are
shocking, and you need to get
a new injection half a year to
9 months later. Although fat transplants
have the problems of self absorption,
it can stabilize after two or
three transplants, and the patients
can get permanent results. |
|
| |
 |
7. Is it better
to have a fat transplant, or inject
hyaluronic acid? |
| |
|
 |
That depends
on the area, if it is for delicate
areas like the lips or earlobes,
hyaluronic acid is easier to mold
into desired shapes. As for other
body parts, because the areas
are larger, although fat transplants
have problems with self absorption,
but it can reuse originally unneeded
parts of the body, so it is a
worthy investment. Overseas, there
are hyaluronic acid products that
can be used to inject large areas
of the body, but the results do
not last over a year, and the
costs are high, so this method
is not widely used. |

| |
 |
8. Everyone
says that vacuumed out fat is
dead, after it is transplanted
into the body, it will of course
not revive? |
| |
|
 |
This statement
is only half correct. The vacuumed
out fat is indeed dead, but human
cells have a 24-72 hour recovery
period; if the fat is injected
in an area with rich blood circulation
in a short period of time, it
will recover. Which is saying
if we carefully protect these
fat cells in a sterile environment,
the success rate of the transplant
will increase. |
