Lip Reduction Surgery

1. Will the swelling after lip reduction last for a long period of time? Is it possible for the lips to be reduced too much?

There are orbicularis oris muscles in the lips. The orbicularis oris muscle is a layer of thick muscle, if it is not touched; it is difficult to reduce the size of the lips too much. As for the swelling after surgery, because the mucous membrane of the lips are filled with circulating blood vessels, the lips may remain swollen for a long period of time, but usually people cannot notice any problems after a period of two weeks.

2. Can the shape of the lips be reconstructed too?

Yes they can, because lip reduction surgery mainly removes excess lip mucous membrane, through the incision we can change the shape of the lips; but this can only achieve partial reconstruction results. If you want to have larger or more precise changes made, then collagen or hyaluronic acid injections will be more suitable.
