1. I have always
had dark circles under my eyes and deep
sulcus, can they also be removed during
lower blepharoplasty? |
| |
|
 |
Eye bags may be
caused by many reasons, and the existence
of sulcus is mostly natural, but it
is just made more obvious if the fat
around the eye causes puffiness. Usually
surgery can remove a portion of the
dark circles, but unless the underlying
reasons are resolved (nose allergies,
staying up late, etc…), they cannot
be cured through surgery. The sulcus
can be smoothed through separating
the connective tissue between the
eyelid and the periosteum, and having
an eye bag fat transplant. |

2. Will Blepharoplasty
easily cause evert eyelids? What
is the reason for this? |
| |
|
 |
The incision
method is mainly used to improve
loose skin; the doctor normally
will evaluate the amount of skin
that needs to be removed. If too
much skin is removed, although
it will look flat temporarily
after surgery, but after two weeks
the eyelid may be pulled after
the wound shrinks, causing evert
eyelids. Besides the surgery factor,
some people may not have enough
eyelid support, which will easily
cause evert eyelids after surgery.
The doctor needs to communicate
clearly with the patient before
surgery, or to prevent these problems
by eye corner ligament strengthening
surgery. |

3.I am still
young, but have an obvious sulcus;
is it necessary to solve the problem
by surgery? |
| |
|
 |
The incision
method mainly corrects eye bags,
and can smooth the sulcus. If
you only have a sulcus problem,
it is not necessary to have such
a big surgery for such a small
problem. Currently we provide
two non surgical methods to correct
the sulcus; one is to inject hyaluronic
acid or collagen as filler. The
pros are fast recovery and the
patient can immediately return
to work, the cons are it is necessary
to get injections every 9-12 months.
The other method is by fat transplant;
we use a special injection needle
to perform the fat transplant
through the mouth. It is safe
and will not leave any scars. |

4. Is it
normal for my eyes to constantly
produce tears after Lower Blepharoplasty? |
| |
|
 |
Usually, the
incision method will cause this
temporary uncomfortable situation.
The main reason is the tear ducts
are blocked and swollen because
of the surgery or because of burning,
so the tear functions are with
temporarily obstructed. This situation
normally improves slowly as the
swelling of the eyelids reduces,
so you do not need to worry! |

 |
5. If Lower
Blepharoplasty causes evert eyelids,
what can be done to resolve the
problem? |
| |
|
 |
As soon as the
inclination of evert eyelids are
discovered after surgery, we suggest
using cosmetic tape to secure
the position of the lower eyelids,
and observe the eyelids for one
to two months. If evert eyelids
really appear, you can use lower
eyelid hanging, removal surgery,
or even a skin graft to correct
the problem. Although the process
is troublesome, the surgeon is
responsible for resolving the
problems until you are completely
satisfied, so you need to cooperate
with him! |

6. I heard
that Botox injections can get
rid of eye bags, is it true? |
| |
|
 |
Real eye bags
are caused by the fat around the
eyes and the loose skin of the
eye bags; the problem cannot be
solved without surgery. Regardless
if it is Botox injection or Mesotherapy,
they can only reduce fine lines,
and make eye bags “look” smoother.
Using Botox injections for eye
bags can easily cause the after
effect of temporarily being unable
to close the eyes; you really
need to think carefully before
getting it done. |
