Mentoplasty

1. How long until you can eat after mentoplasty?

Mentoplasty does not have the same food constrictions as mandible reduction surgery; you only need to get over the pressure of the tight bandages after surgery. Of course, because your chin bone was just secured, we still hope you can eat softer foods to allow the newly secured bone or artificial silica bone to heal earlier.

2. My chin is not receding; it is just too short, can I improve that with a silica bone implant?

There are many types and sizes of silica bones to choose from, but they still have their limitations. Usually if you want to increase the length of the chin more then 1cm, using only a silica bone is not enough because it is not as stable. The best method at this time is to choose mentoplasty to increase the length.
3. After a chin implant, is there a borderline that can be seen by people?

People may be able see hints of an artificial implant if it is not adjusted like it is custom made. If the silica bone implanted is too big or not suitable for your face, there is a chance that the borderline will appear. It will be especially obvious when you smile. So we will carefully choose an artificial chin bone that is suitable for your face, and will implant it after adjustments are made. If your chin shape is really not suitable for silica bone, we will recommend you to get mentoplasty.
4. Will a chin implant shift after it is impacted? If that occurs, what do I do?

An artificial chin bone is still a foreign object, once it is in the body, there is still a chance of capsular contracture causing it to shift. Shifting does not just occur because of outer impact. We can only try to stretch the pocket larger during surgery, and placing the silica at the bottom layer of the periosteum to prevent this kind of after effect.
Once you discover a shift in the silica bone, your only option is to get adjustment surgery. If you are still worrying about it shifting, I would recommend you to just get mentoplasty because it is secured by special bone plates and wires, and I guarantee that kind of problem will not occur.
