Human legs are more than a tool for
simply walking. Lightening up by various
accessories and shoes, it implies plentiful
social meaning. If a woman has a pair
of beautiful legs, must carry off the
excellent weapon which attracts men’s
attention without taking eyes off. As
a result, how to create a pair of well-balanced
legs becomes an important part of figure
sculpture. Moreover, the proportion
of lower legs, which are often exposed,
plays a key role in visual effect.
The bulgy calf, so-called radish-like
leg, is caused by excessive development
of gastrocnemius muscle located at the
back of calf. As a result, the local
bulgy muscle is obviously visible from
wearing high-heel shoes or raising the
heel, moreover, the serious one, which
is harder, can be found immediately
while standing. The traditional gastrocnemius
muscle resection is rarely employed
by surgeons now because of the factors
such as noticeable scars and long recovery
timed. And thanks for the invention
of botulinum toxin; many people with
small or medium bulgy calves can attain
a satisfactory result without performing
a surgical operation. However, the effect,
which can only maintain around six months
is temporary and requests another injection
cyclically. In a long run, the cost
is a heavy burden.
We provide two surgical options for
calf sculpting surgery. We employ Korean
newest neurectomy to the patients with
thinner or medium musclar legs. We utilize
microsurgery to cut off the nerves that
control inside muscle. The advantages
are not only small scars and short recovery
time but also the permanent effect.
It is the best choice for the women
who determined to get rid of ugly radish
legs. However, for those patients with
thick muscular claves, we suggest the
gastrocnemius muscle resection that
is to remove partial medial gastrocnemius.
Furthermore, sometimes it is necessary
to cut off partial lateral gastrocnemius
in order to achieve most effective result. |

The
gastrocnemius muscle resection
we adopt belongs to one of the
minimally invasive surgical methods,
is completely processed under
microscope. The patient can get
out of bed and take food immediately
once the surgery is done and recover
rapidly without any discomfort
after anesthesia.
We start procedure by creating
a 1.5cm incision horizontally
on the hollow under the back of
the knee. Then we use micro technique
to carry out the searching and
recognizing of nerves. It is necessary
to utilize professional electrical
nerve stimulator, because we must
accurately locate the nerve that
will be cut. After repeatedly
confirm the motor nerve which
control medial gastrocemius, we
perform the cutting process and
stitch the incision. |

Depending
on the range and volume of target
muscle which will be cut, firstly,
the surgeon makes a small incision
between 3cm and 5 cm on inside
of hollow which on upper calf
and locates the cutting range,
then makes another 1.5 cm incision
on the lower calf. Using endoscope
to assist in breaking the connective
tissue, the muscle can be cut
and separated accurately. The
scars after surgery will remain
three to six months and become
unapparent gradually after one
year.
To complement a few botulinum
toxin injection performed on lateral
gastrocnemius will be considered
by individual’s situation after
surgery, in order to achieve a
well-proportioned result. |

 |
Within one week after surgery, patients
probably have the symptoms such as muscle
soreness or weakness, which will disappear
after seven days for majority. Furthermore,
wearing elastic stockings for two to
three months will facilitate the muscle
atrophy and calf sculpting.
In general, the effective result is
appeared in one month after surgery,
it will be completely fixed after three
months. |
