Chin implant surgery (Mentoplasty)
The relative position of chin, zygoma
and nose will carry out the proportion
and beauty of a face. In another word,
if the three body parts mentioned above
is at its perfect position then the
basic shape of the face would not be
too bad. The position of chin is located
at the lowest part of the face which
is also the most important foundation
of facial expression. If it is possible
to own a moderate size and a well- defined
chin curve then it will be very beneficial
in adorning facial expressing.
The perfect proportion for a face, the
distance from the lower lip to chin
is about double the distance from upper
lip to nasal columella. If evaluating
from the side, nose tip, lower lip and
the protuberant part of the chin forms
into a line then it is the standard
of the golden ratio. Everyone can use
this principle to determine whether
his or her chin is long or short or
too protuberant or retracted. If the
chin is not perfect enough then chin
implant surgery is required to improve
the situation.
Currently, our clinic provides two types
of implants, silicon cartilage and Medpor,
for chin augmentation. Silicon cartilage
has the advantages of convenience in
insertion, short surgery time and economical
price. However, not everyone is suitable
for the shape it has cushioned. The
advantages of Medpor are the natural
look, low infection rate and more compatible
with the body. Therefore, a lot more
patients are choosing this material
to shape their perfect chin. Apropos
of what material suits you the best,
evaluation from a professional doctor
is required to help you to make the
decision.

the alveolus. Periosteum is separated
apart for insertion of the silicon or
Medpor which are previously measured
according to patient’s size. After making
sure the position and length is accurate,
muscle and the mucous membrane are stitched
up and the surgery is completed smoothly.
The artificial bone implant must be
fixed by bone nails, the bone nail is
for permanent implantation and there
is no need to take it out.
