Korean style bone reduction
surgery
The traditional square face of Koreans
has created the popularity of bone reduction
surgeries. Therefore, although bone
reduction surgeries are not invented
by Korean doctors but their experiences
and method procedures yet are the most
abundant. This is also where Korean
style bone reduction came from.
The generalized square face correction
actually includes the treatment of the
bone and soft tissues. The issue of
protruding bone requires bone reduction
surgeries to correct it. However the
hypertrophy of soft tissues such as
fat and muscles requires the aid of
liposuction or botulinus toxin injection
to improve it.

Korean style bone reduction surgeries
include two ranges, one is the upper
protruding part of the zygoma, and the
lower part is the mandibular angle.
However, as each individual has different
bone shapes, mandibluar surgeries can
be further categorized into two kinds,
mandibular angle resection surgery and
mandibular angle tapering surgery. The
differences between both surgical procedures
are not great; the doctor will decide
which procedure to perform depending
on the facial shape of the patient.
The
surgery will be performed with
general anesthesia. The first
part of the surgery process is
to cut open about 3cm (zygoma)
or 5cm(mandible) incision at 1cm
beside the mouth cavities mucous
membrane, which is 1 cm beside
the alveolus. After using tools
to spread apart soft tissues near
the determined bone reduction
area then using special instruments
to reduce bone may begin. It is
the same with the other side.
As for zygoma surgeries, it is
required to cut open a 0.5 to
1 cm small incision on the facial
skin near where the hairline is.
This provides us affixing therapy
of bond reduction on the other
side.
