The osteogenic galoche chin (crescent
face), a long pointed chin, is the most
commonly seen abnormal development of
the jaw in our country, moreover people
with the protruding chin are often tagged
with an inelegant nickname and seriously
effects the self-confidence. In regards
to occlusion, the lower teeth often
bite on the outer part of the upper
teeth that is referred as under bite
or cross-bite. If the situation is slight,
it can be simply correct by using orthodontic,
however, the shape of the face will
not be changed conspicuously. Therefore,
if patients want to completely rectify
the crescent face, the best way is receiving
an Osterotomy surgery to carry out a
facial adjustment.
The heredity factor acts a critical
role in inheriting an osteogenic galoche
chin. According to statistics, in the
group of people who has an osteogenic
galoche chin approximately 1/3 of them
at least one of their father or mother
has a long pointed chin, and approximately
1/6 of the people at least one their
brothers or sisters has a long pointed
chin. For girls, the best time for rectification
surgery of boned galoche chin is to
be over 15~16 years old and for boys
is to be older than 17~18 years old.
Performing this surgical operation after
the development period will have less
chance of recurrence. |
